Games I Like – MERCS – Created Scenario and Campaign Rules

So having played a LOT of MERCS in the past six months, one of the things that we encountered was the usual amount of gamer-burnout. Playing firefights eternally can make even the most fun game system feel repetitive.

With that in mind, I decided to develop some gaming aids in order to spice up MERCS games. These all go together to form some rules for Organized play.

MERCS Scenario Generator

The first is a scenario generator for your MERCS games. Taking inspiration from other games I have played in the past, I came up with major and minor victory conditions that would give us a huge number of variations each game. It also gave our games some Narrative.

For instance in my last game vs. KemVar, my USCR team was engaged in defending a Facilty. The KemVar had orders to eliminate my team and we both had minor objectives as well. The USCR were working to scan the KemVar’s active Camo with an orbiting sattellite while the KemVar were working to recover stolen Worm Grenades in one of the cannisters on the table.

To go with this, I have created a simple Campaign System and roster to link together MERCS games.

These will continue to be updated as new MegaCons are released, such as the Sefadu in the middle of this month. I hope anyone who decides to use them enjoys them and feel free to make any comments about them here!
