Things I Like – The iPad

It’s funny, I’ve never thought of myself as a techie person really… but I’ve succumbed to the lure of the iPad.

The funny thing is, I’m not really broken up about it… Because as a gamer it has proven to have a huge number of uses I hadn’t considered.

Now, as I travel extensively for work (I’m typing this from DFW right now waiting for an AA connection) I initially got the iPad as a work appliance. Sure it makes flights go faster (and I’m currently on my fourth go-around around at Plants vs Zombies) and Evernote has me keeping notes in an organized fashion for the first time in my life, but I didn’t know I would be able to store so many gaming books on it!

A 99 cent App called Goodreader is the culprit here. I play a variety of games (Heavy Gear, Eden, Void, Warzone, Blood Bowl…) that have migrated over to using electronic rulebooks. My Ipad let’s me carry a nigh unlimited number of these with me wherever I go. I just spent three hours on a flight catching up with the Viridian Armybook, something I hadn’t looked at in years.

I’m also using the WordPress App as I type this to update my blog for the first time in a few weeks. It will hopefully get me posting more regularly.

So to sum up dear readers, the iPad isn’t just for apple fans. We masses of gamers have found it a niche for us as well.
